The international watercolour project Step by Step returns in 2024.

The initial three seasons adhered to a stable rule set, which has become the bedrock of the much-loved Step by Step project.

 In line with the project's evolution, we've held various activities. This includes festivals, plein air sessions, and both online and offline events in diverse formats. The result of all these seasons has been the publication of a comprehensive 'Gold Edition' book. This tome includes the finest unpublished works from our participants over a span of three years.

In the new season, the time has come for changes and transformations, a time for rethinking the rules and formats, all these innovations are designed to make the Step by Step project more flexible and modern and will reveal the versatility and internationality of the project!

So, the general concept will remain unchanged, because it carries the main idea of the project, namely:

“Step by Step” is an international watercolour art project organized for artists from around the world.

The main idea of the competition is to enable beginner artists to learn, and professionals to share experiences and skills, and possibly bring fresh ideas and new techniques to their work.

The competition provides an opportunity to consider the art of watercolour painting from the inside. The magic of creating any work, as a rule, remains hidden from the viewer. As a result, whether it is a masterpiece of a professional or the work of a novice artist, we see only the final result, and the creation process remains “behind the scenes”.

Step by Step is a project that allows you to reveal the stages of creating watercolour works of any complexity. Secrets of craftsmanship and personal discoveries of artists, author's colour combinations and new conceptual techniques - all this is available to the contest participants thanks to Step by Step.
